Nollywood actor Amaechi Muonagor has been reported dead. The actor, whose health was reported to be fast deteriorating over inability to raise funds to settle his hospital bills, reportedly died on Sunday, March 24. He was aged 61.

The news of Muonagor passing away was announced by Kingsley Orji, who confirmed the sad news. Orji announced that Muonagor died at his residence in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

In a recent Instagram post, an actor, Kingsley Orji, announced that paucity of funds has seen Amaechi leave the Intensive Care Unit of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital in Nnewi, Anambra state some days ago.

Orji also noted that Muonagor’s ailment has not only deteriorated but has equally affected his speech. He urged fans and well-wishers to support the ailing actor in undergoing a transplant surgery.

Orji said, “It has not been easy. He has been in this condition for months now. He wants to go for a kidney transplant. What we want is for you to help us for him to travel to India.

“He just came back from the ICU in Nnewi teaching hospital a couple of days ago. He was responding to treatment but not very well.

“We decided to bring him home because there was no money but it is not advisable. He barely talks well. Please, he needs your help.”

In November 2023, Tony Muonagor, the cousin of Ameachi, revealed that the actor was battling kidney disease, diabetes, and stroke. He also said the actor’s condition deteriorated, requiring weekly dialysis and physiotherapy at the teaching hospital in Nnewi.
