Burna Boy, yesterday won the award for the Best International Act at the just concluded BET Awards, held last night at the Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles, USA.

Burna Boy was although at the show with his mum but disappeared just when he was announced the winner from the category which Mr. Eazy on the list, but his mum was there to receive the award.

On his sudden disappearance, Burna revealed, he went to get a drink, meanwhile, praising his mum for her speech after she got his BET Award, tweeted;

Funny enough I went to Get a drink! I would have collected this one. #BETAwards Thank You.

While receiving the award on his behalf, his mum gave a very powerful speech that earned her a standing ovation at the event.

Speaking with grace and poise, she said:

“Thank you very much BET. Thank you Africa. Because that’s the constituency for which we got noticed in the first place. And the message from Burna, I believe, would be that every black person should please remember that you were Africans before you became anything else.

At this point, a loud cheer went up in the venue.

“Thank you,” she concluded, lifting the award plaque and left the stage.
