“Your death will be the most painful”, the Bogeyman screamed into my ears as he kept on slamming me around like a racket. “I was to going to kill you with a single blow earlier, but i guess that will be too kind for you. Instead, I’m going to break you into pieces and break every bones you have in your body”, he thundered in a very angry tone.

Judging from the intensity of his voice, I was so sure that my imminent death is sure. I had already forsaken my soul to God and I was just waiting for him to give me the last blow.

Paul was able to escape through the door after the Bogeyman centred all his attentions on me. I didn’t blame him though. No one wants to die.

“I’m so sorry George”, I whispered for the last time as he gave him this head splitting knock with his huge hand which resulted into a headache.

I re-dedicated my life to God again at that instant and I started begging God for the forgiveness of sins I might have freshly committed. I knew that it was all gonna end in death anyways and the only thing that matters now is my fate after my death.

The next thing I heard was the sound of a breaking bone. I never knew that he broke my leg until after 50 seconds after I noticed that I can no longer control my left leg. I screamed when I noticed that I no longer have control over my left leg.

A wide hysterical laugh escaped his lips. “Are you feeling the pains I felt”?. “Can you see how it hurts?.

“I am so sor……..”.

He stopped me with a slap that removed two of my teeth. I went blank and deaf immediately. I started thinking of my Dad, Mum, siblings and how they are gonna miss me after my death.

“Don’t you dare say that again”, he said in anger. His eyes was blazing like a hot coal now.

He gave me another slap that dealt less critical damage to my ears even though, it stopped me from hearing anything any other human being says.

He threw me against the wall and luckily, I fell on the bed. I wanted to heave a sigh of relief when he grabbed me by the neck almost immediately and he smashed my second left.

I presumed that there was nothing else to to damage after that and what was left was just for him to either snap my neck or pull my head off.

“Guess what’s left for you now is to kill me. There’s nothing else to break”, I whispered to him.

“You’re wrong there. Your two hands are still there”, he whispered to my ears with a wide grin. I never realised that I still have my hands intact.

He broke the two hands simultaneously and I passed out immediately.

I thought I was going to open my eyes in heaven, or probably hell, but rather, I found myself in a hospital with my whole body bandaged.

There was bandages all over my legs and hands and practically couldn’t see anything with my left eye.

I was able to open my right eye after much effort and my mum was right beside me.

“What happened to me” I asked in a very silent tone.

“We heard about what happened in your school last week and we came to your school the next day. The whole school has been deserted already and we found your lifeless body at the entrance of your dorm room. We rushed you here immediately and you’ve been admitted since last week”.

“Did you just say last week!!?”.

“Yes”.

“Where’s the Bogeyman”?.

“Bogey what”?, My mum asked, oblivious of what has been happening to me.

“Ohh. Never mind mum”, I answered her. “This is between us”, I thought to myself.

Many unanswered questions popped into my head immediately my Mum exited the ward.

“Where’s the Bogeyman. Was he defeated. Is he still coming back. Why did he spare me”?.

And these are the questions that I’m still yet to find answers to, even though it’s been 20 years already since the event happened.
